Mythbuster

The usefulness of stickytack is a myth. It does not work now, nor has it ever worked, nor will it ever work. I have wasted too much of my life trying to pound it into the wall and subsequently having posters fall on my head a few minutes later. I think that institutions like Covenant College are paid off by stickytack companies for telling their students that they are only allowed to stickytack things to the wall. It's ridiculous.

I find myself completely and entirely innocent. I can surmise from various pieces of information that sticktack is like tacs, except sticks instead of pokes, but I have never seen the stuff, nor have ever used it. I feel very sorry for you.

Mom may have bought that sticky tack at the dollar store. We could grab some quality sticky tack at Walmart (what an oximoron) next time we're there. We do need to go there soon. Let's make it tonight! Oops...hall meeting...hmmmmm...skip???? lol

Don't mean to drop by just to, well, laugh, but I feel somehow obligated to point out that your little sister has eleven times as many comments on her post on philology than you on this one about stickytack. And she is undoubtably reveling in the irony. ^_______^

Nathan is displeased.

yes, Hope..the reason that they allow you to use sticky tack is beacause it comes off easily; unlike a nail or an actual tack which has some staying power. It is the very characteristic that you noted (it is temporary) upon which their approval of sticky-tack rests. You see they don't want any holes in their walls, nor any perminant metal or plastic objects protruding from their walls for the next 15 years (note that these are the very things which make all effective "hanging techniques" well...effective). So what is left that will not protrude from the wall, leave holes in it, and be difficult to get off?...well... sticky-tack...smile!!...as you see it comes right off!

Mark,
I'm so glad you posted!!

I believe that I have been aware of the SUPPOSED reason for limiting adhesive methods to stickytack. However, in my dorm, we are required to take everything down over the summer, so surely tape could't stay long enough to do damage, and the kicker is that it's going to be torn down and rebuilt within the year anyway, so there isn't any point in being obsessive about a little lost paint or pinholes in the wall.

And what IS the point of stickytack's existence anyway if it doesn't cause things to REMAIN adhered to the wall?

I'm still not happy about this,

~Hope~
